    　美國在台協會 (AIT)前理事主席丁大衛 (David Dean)於美東時間10月27日深夜辭世，享年88歲，馬英九總統代表我國政府及人民致函弔唁，外交部也已電請駐美國代表處，向丁大衛遺孀轉達悼慰之意。

    　外交部表示，丁大衛自1979年至1986年擔任AIT首任理事主席暨執行理事，並於1987年至1989年擔任AIT台北辦事處處長，對於在中華民國與美國中止外交關係後，建立雙方新的交往模式，並繼續促進雙方各項關係與交流，貢獻良多。

    　1925年出生於紐約的丁大衛，於過去數十年間，在兩岸扮演重要角色，對台灣極為友好，甚至曾在2009年在一場研討會發表言論說，「隨著兩岸關係改善，未來不無可能在聯合國發展出一國兩席情況」。

    　外交部也指出，民國100年，我駐美國代表處於兩國斷交32年後，首度恢復在華府雙橡園舉行國慶酒會，丁大衛也親自出席，共同見證歷史性的一刻。

    　外交部表示，中華民國政府對於丁大衛長年關心我國、致力促進台美關係的卓越貢獻，及堅定友我情誼至為感佩，並對丁大衛的逝世深表惋惜與哀悼。
